THE BURNABY JR. ISLANDERS

The Burnaby Jr. Islanders

In September of 2017, with support from the New York Islanders as part of their Amateur Youth Development program, the Burnaby Junior Islanders Program was born. For the 2018 Spring Season, we will introduce an AAA 2007 year team, with plans to expand to other age groups in late 2018.

The Burnaby Junior Islanders will be based out of Burnaby, British Columbia, and train primarily out of the Burnaby Winter ClubPlanet Ice Coquitlam, Britannia Arena in Vancouver, and Excellent Ice in Surrey, BC.

The focus of this program will be on youth skills development, fitness, competitiveness, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. The teams will have the opportunity to practice and play starting in April through the end of May 2018, competing in 2 Lower Mainland Tournaments, as well as having the opportunity to play in a travel tournament. We will then participate in at least 2 tournaments during the summer.

Preparations have started, and we plan to start to skate and train together on a bi-monthly basis in preparation for next year’s season.

ABBOTSFORD JUNIOR PILOTS

The Abbotsford Junior Pilots program grew out of love for hockey and our desire to develop a first-class, winning culture that will deliver long-lasting positive experiences to our players.

The program was established to give local kids a place to play competitive Spring hockey without having to travel outside our community.

The program offers players the opportunity to develop their skills, grow as a team and as an individual players. While player development is at the forefront of what we do, the character and sportsmanship our players demonstrate both on and off the ice is a critical part of what is taught and expected from all our participants.

The Abbotsford Junior Pilots recognize that Spring hockey is becoming more popular and is a short and often intense season, however, we pride ourselves on a program that will provide a positive hockey experience – focusing on individual skill development, team concepts and sportsmanship – while instilling a love of the game.
