STITTSVILLE 3 ON 3 BALL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

Stittsville 3-on-3 ball hockey holding annual tournament October 6th

The 3rd Annual Stittsville 3-on-3 Ball Hockey Tournament will be taking place this year on Sunday, October 6 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm in the vacant lot beside the Hazeldean Gardens (old location of the Stittsville Flea Market).

This tournament is a fundraiser for the Minor Atom, Minor Peewee and Minor Bantam Stittsville Rams hockey teams. For the past two years, it has been a great community event that allows kids to play with their friends and parents to visit with friends and neighbours.

Sabrina Kemp, a Stittsville resident and volunteer with the ball hockey organization, is the organizer for this tournament and told Stittsville Central, “this year, we hope it will be even more fun, as we have partnered with two other RAMS teams, so we hope to have an even bigger turnout!”.

Hot 89.9 radio station will be there pumping up the players and fans with great tunes. Prizes for winning teams have been kindly donated by Delta Paintball, the OCR Academy, Altitude Gym Kanata and Gongshow Gear. Winning teams also get their team names engraved on a trophy that is displayed in the trophy case at Johnny Leroux Arena.

Sabrina enthusiastically added, “for the past two years, this has been a great fundraiser for our RAMS teams. But more importantly, this is a wonderful community event that gives the kids a chance to come out and play, not just with their teammates, but with friends from other teams, from school and from their neighbourhoods. And, it is just as much fun for the parents as it is for the kids! It really is a great example of what a fun and supportive community Stittsville is.”

The tournament is open to Atom (kids born in 2009-2010), Peewee (kids born in 2007-2008) and Bantam (kids born in 2005-2006). Teams of 5 (including one goalie) can register for a team fee of $150 ($30/player). Each registered player receives a slice of Jo-Jo’s pizza and a drink. Jo-Jo’s Pizza will also be on-site with slices and drinks available for purchase by parents, siblings, and fans!

Folks can join the Facebook event page “3rd Annual Stittsville 3 on 3 Ball Hockey Tournament” for more information and can register at  https://tinyurl.com/stittsvilleballhockey. Any questions can be sent to  stittsville3on3ballhockey@gmail.com.

Get your team organized, register and come to what guarantees to be a fun afternoon of ball hockey while supporting our local RAMS hockey teams!

Record number of teams participate in 3 on 3 ball hockey tournie

October 6th was the perfect day for the Stittsville 3 on 3 Ball Hockey Tournament – the rain held off and there was a record turnout. The all-around success of the 2019 tournament will not be forgotten anytime soon!

The 2018 tournie had 22 teams participating – this year a record 49 teams with a total of 245 players. There were 15 Atom, 20 Peewee and 14 Bantam teams in total. That is a lot of money raised to support the Stittsville RAMS hockey organization!

The Dunsmuir Memorial Tournament

This annual Spring tournament has been named in honour of the Dunsmuir Family.

On March 29, 2013 the community of East Gwillimbury tragically lost Kevin, Jenny, Robert, and Cameron Dunsmuir.  They were remarkable members of our community and they always supported the sport of hockey and the EGMHA.

Having been involved in hockey in various capacities over the years, the Dunsmuir family were very supportive of each other, the teams they were a part of, and the community as a whole.

All three boys: David, Robert and Cameron started their hockey careers in East Gwillimbury. Robert went on to be drafted to the Owen Sound Attack and he continued to mentor and help train young goalies in East Gwillimbury.

The Dunsmuir family really impacted a lot of young hockey players’ lives, on and off of the ice touching the lives of everyone they met. Kind, caring and generous people who understood the importance of contributing to their community.

To honour the Dunsmuir family we ask you to play hard and support the love of hockey.
